Shop Block
The standard Shop block provides a simple way to take payments for items through Paypal. By default it uses the Paypal shopping cart, which has limited ability to manage postage/shipping etc, so this is by no means a full ecommerce system, but may prove perfectly satisfactory for small businesses selling a few simple items.
If you need a more powerful and flexible shopping system then see our Enhanced Shop add-on. We charge a moderate extra fee for this add-on, but it includes many useful extras including a postage calculator.
However, even with the Enhanced Shop add-on, Spanglefish is by no means a full ecommerce system. Click here to see what it doesn't do.

A shop block set so that items open in a popup.
There are lots of shop settings so we've created a separate page of shop block instructions.
What Spanglefish Doesn't Do
The ecommerce functions in Spanglefish are pretty basic - they allow you to take payment through Paypal for individual items or a shopping basket of items.
Spanglefish does not:
- Store information about your customers (that's all done in Paypal)
- Calculate shipping based on your customer's location (because we don't know it)
- Create accounts for customers where they can view their orders.
- Send customers emails about the status of their orders. (they will get one from Paypal on payment)
If you need any of these things you need a website built on another system.
